A short story by Diana Crawford. (Age a closely guarded secret!)
Hazel the hedgehog woke up one day too see there was fog. Hazel went outside to look for some hay, but outside she found a frog. The frog was sitting upon a log.
"Hello Mr Frog, do you want to play?"
"Ribbit ribbit" and the frog hopped away.
Nexst hazel the hedgehog saw Badger.
"Hello Mr Badger, do you want to play?"
"Snort snort snort" and Mr Badger scurried away!
Hazel the hedgehog was very sad. No one wanted to play in the fog today.
"Hello Hazel, let's go back to the house."
Hazel the hedgehog looked up. It was her Dad.
Hazel the hedgehog now smiled and she was glad.
Daddy hedgehog called again "come on Hazel, we have a mouse!"

This is what Morgan says about Smartie:
- He comes out at night.
- He makes a nest of leaves on the ground.
- He goes inside.
- He likes to walk about.
- He walks back into his nest and goes to sleep.
- His name is Smartie because he has smarties stuck on his prickles and he is clever and he drinks water.
- He likes his name.
